Custom manufacturing or tailored production – what does that mean exactly?
We are often asked what the difference is between a custom order and a made-to-measure order. For us, these are two completely different types of production, with different workflows and different efforts.
The most important difference is:
In a custom order, we work with an already existing pattern from our range.
In a made-to-measure order, we develop a personal pattern for the dog or individually adjust a pattern.
What does custom order mean?
A custom order means that we create a model from our shop based on an already existing pattern.
This means:
We take a pattern that has already been developed by us, for example a model like Brunhilde in an existing size, such as size 25 or 35. This pattern remains unchanged. So we do not change the fit and do not develop a new pattern.
The custom order concerns the execution of the model according to your wishes, for example:
- a different fabric
- a different color combination
- hood
- fitted lining
- different features
- special request details
Decisive is:
The basis always remains the existing model with the available pattern.
What does a custom order cost?
The custom order costs 4€5.00 extra including VAT, plus €7.70 shipping.
This means:
The price consists of the normal shop price of the chosen model and the surcharge of €45.00 for the custom order.
An example:
You want a coat from our shop, for example Brunhilde, in an existing size and with the same basic features as in the shop. If you only want this coat in a different fabric, the model remains technically the same. In this case, it is a custom order.
Then it applies:
Shop price of the model + €45.00 surcharge for the custom order
plus €7.70 shipping
If additional features are desired, such as a hood or a fitted lining, these will be added depending on the desired execution.
When is a custom order available?
A custom request is present when:
- an existing model from the shop serves as the basis
- an available size is chosen
- the pattern remains unchanged
- only fabric, features, or details are adjusted as desired
A custom request means:
Production on request based on an existing pattern.
What does custom-made mean?
A custom-made product is something different.
Here we do not simply work with an existing pattern from the shop, but develop a personal pattern for the dog or individually adjust a pattern to the special measurements and proportions.
This is a completely different workflow than for a custom request.
In a custom-made product, it is not just about fabric or features, but about the fit itself. This concerns dogs for whom an existing model in a standard size is not suitable or for whom an individual pattern solution is required.
Custom-made means:
personal pattern development or individual pattern adjustment for the individual dog.
What does a custom-made product cost?
A custom-made product costs from €265.00 including VAT, plus €7.70 shipping.
The price starts from €265.00 because the effort is significantly higher than for a custom request. A custom-made product involves the development or adjustment of the pattern and thus a custom fit solution.
The difference at a glance
The custom request and the custom-made product should not be confused with each other.
Custom request:
An existing model from the shop is made in an available size based on an already developed pattern. The pattern remains unchanged. For example, different fabrics, other details, or additional features are desired.
Price: Shop price + €45.00 surcharge incl. VAT, plus €7.70 shipping
Custom-made:
A personal pattern is developed for the dog or a pattern is individually adjusted. The focus is on a custom fit solution.
Price: from €265.00 incl. VAT, plus €7.70 shipping
Why this difference is important
For us, these are two different services with two different workflows.
In a custom request, we use an existing pattern and create the model according to your wishes.
In a custom-made product, an individual pattern solution is created for the dog.
That is why the pricing structure is also different.
