Care Tips for Your Lucy & Fly Dog Clothing

Why Proper Care is So Important
Dog clothing from Lucy & Fly is much more than just a nice accessory. It accompanies your dog in everyday life, protects against wind and weather, and is an important part of comfort and well-being for many dogs.
That’s why proper care is worthwhile. It helps ensure that your dog clothing stays beautiful for a long time, retains its function, and reliably accompanies you for many years.
Here you will find our most important tips for gentle and material-appropriate care.
Let it Dry Well After the Walk
If the clothing has become damp or wet after the walk, we recommend simply letting it dry in the air peacefully.
This allows the material to dry gently without being unnecessarily stressed. At the same time, this helps to avoid odors and maintain the quality of the fabric in the long term.
Better to Take It Off Briefly During Wild Play
When dogs play or romp intensely with each other, it can easily happen that clothing gets damaged from pulling, scratching, or getting caught.
To keep your coat or suit in a nice condition for as long as possible, it is often sensible to take the clothing off briefly during such moments.
The Right Washing – Depending on the Material
Not every material should be cared for in the same way. That’s why it is important to pay attention to the specific type of fabric.
Water-Repellent Fabrics
Water-repellent fabrics can usually be washed in the washing machine. We recommend a short wash cycle at 30 °C with some detergent.
Afterward, the garment should simply be air-dried. Please do not use a dryer.
Softshell and Waterproof Fabrics
For softshell and particularly waterproof fabrics, gentle hand washing is the better choice.
For this, soak the garment in water for about ten minutes, then gently move it and carefully press out excess water. After that, please let it air dry.
Again, please do not put it in the dryer.
In general, we recommend washing these materials only as often as necessary. Because gentle care supports the longevity of the water-repellent and waterproof properties.
Patience When Drying
Depending on the inner material, the drying time can vary.
Models with soft fleece usually take a bit longer, while variants with smoother inner fabric dry faster and are ready for use sooner.
A little patience is always worth it here, as gentle drying is an important part of material-appropriate care.
